There’s no denying that video marketing is important, but you might still be surprised by exactly how important it really is. People spend over twice as much time on pages with video than those without, and 55% of people watch online videos every day. On top of that, they respond to it – according to HubSpot, 43% of people want to see more video content from marketers. Not bad in a world in which attention is at a premium.

But it’s not always easy to decide what kinds of video to create, and it’s also difficult to find the time, the budget and the resources you need to create videos that people want to watch. That’s where we come in. GoShow is the home of sports and lifestyle video production, and it’s our mission to make video creation more accessible to marketers.

But don’t worry, this isn’t a sales piece. The best videos are entertaining, informational and inspirational, and blog posts are no different. That’s why in this post we’ll be entertaining, informing and inspiring you with some great examples of what good video marketing should look like.

Lessons from Mercedes

Mercedes invited their subscribers along for the journey as Kelly and Loki head out in the snow to explore new areas and to find new places. Kelly is a human and Loki is a dog, but that doesn’t stop the two of them from being best friends, and the stunning video from Mercedes is somehow simultaneously cute and full of adrenaline.

What’s particularly great about the Mercedes campaign is that it tied a product – their new 2017 GLS – with a story in such a way that it wasn’t over the top or intrusive. It also helped that Loki has over 1.5 million followers on Instagram – which just goes to show why it’s a good idea to work with influencers.

Lessons from Corona

The beer brand showed how video should be done by taking an epic road trip down Mexico’s west coast in a 1976 Winnebago. They recruited award-winning filmmaker Taylor Steele along for the ride to capture it all on film, and the result is a surf-filled extravaganza with a beautiful soundtrack that captures the Corona lifestyle in all of its glory.

The video itself is called ‘From Where You’d Rather Be’, and it’s a great reminder that there’s a whole world out there just waiting for us to explore it. And wherever the road takes us, whether it’s surfing in Mexico or backpacking through Europe, there’ll be a Corona waiting at the end of it.

Oh, and did we mention that it got over 6 million views?

Lessons from Red Bull

Red Bull is the indisputable king of branded video content, as just a quick glance at their YouTube channel will show. At the time of writing, their latest video taps into the upcoming release of season two of Stranger Things. The basic concept is that BMX rider Anthony Perrin is trapped in a parallel universe and fellow biker Bruno Hoffman is heading there to save him. But he’s being guided by mysterious voices – and you’ll have to watch the video to find out where they’re coming from.

The great thing about this video is that it taps into popular culture and mixes storytelling with the extreme sports angle that Red Bull is most well-known for. It’s reminiscent of Devin Supertramp’s extreme parkour videos which blend biking, skating and regular parkour with everything from Assassin’s Creed to Pokémon.

The result is a visually stunning video that feels less like an advert and more like a Netflix Original. It’s exactly this kind of content that helps to boost brand awareness without feeling intrusive. If this video came up as an advertisement, you’d probably watch it until the end.

Great marketing can’t be faked. You simply have to put in the time to research your audience, to find out what they actually want and to create video content that they seek out, engage with and share with their friends.

After all, you can’t just create a viral video. That’s not how it works. All you can do is create the best, most relevant video possible. When you share it with your subscribers, they’ll be the ones who decide whether it goes viral or not. If it’s good enough – and relevant enough – then you’re in with a shot!
